Mission Statement  

Heartland Nature School provides whole child education in a safe environment to prepare students to be lifelong learners through both a classical curriculum and emphasis on nature including the individuality of each child.  We discover and enhance each of their gifts and talents, support natural health, deepen their connection to nature and respect for humanity, and support free will and critical thinking. 

The school authorities are always open to discuss every policy and expectation. Parents and children are required to attend a personal interview prior to acceptance.

HSL promotes healthy lifestyle practices, such as eating whole organic foods, mind body exercise, stress management, individualized self assessment and integrative approaches to illnesses. HSL does permit the use of masks and believes in our bodies' intelligent immune system. We use non-toxic cleaning supplies, have flexible seating in the classrooms and incorporate multi-sensory learning tools.

Research shows that all humans grow and learn better when they are relaxed and having fun! At the Heartland we lean into spontaneity and allow the children to lead based on their interests and natural inquiry. We take time for physical play, field trips, relaxing walks and nature exploration on a regular basis.
